If you contract the HIV virus as a result of your employment with Montefiore and become eligible for Workers’ Compensation benefits, medical coverage for you only will continue until you become eligible for Medicare, but not for more than 29 months. Coverage for eligible family members enrolled while you were actively employed at Montefiore can be continued by electing COBRA coverage. When Medical coverage for you stops, you can elect COBRA coverage for yourself if you are not yet eligible for Medicare.
